As the Carnival Sunrise sailed to Grand Cayman and Jamaica at the end of July, the outside temperature reached over 90 degrees. Inside, vacationers reported their cabins were uncomfortably, even dangerously, warm because of broken air conditioning — with some saying their rooms hovered above 80. Guests on board were quick to post on social media to point out just how many of the ship's passengers were impacted, sharing pictures of long lines to speak to guest services.

I know it defeats the purpose,but with the AC off with direct sun i found it almost impossible for the AC to get the temperature back down by itself. We were on the April 30th cruise had three staterooms, balconies forward of the ship, took a thermometer and it never went down lower than 73 and that usually was around 5-8am only. I have to say it averaged 75 in all cabins and too warm for us we complained and fans were given to us but it was still warm for us, didn't sweat but got no quality sleep. Castaway Cay is about 1,000 acres — though not all of it's developed — so it can take a while to talk to and from the ship to different spots on the island.
